Slovak Cooperative Oncology Group
Slovak Cooperative Oncology Group (SCOG) was founded on June 14, 2019, as a working group within the Slovak Oncology Institute. SCOG is a formal association of professionals working together to conduct academic and industry-initiated cancer clinical trials in the Slovak Republic.
The mission of SCOG is to connect academic sites, other oncology clinical facilities and pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies in order to conduct coordinated oncology research in Slovakia with a final goal to improve cancer patients care in Slovakia. SCOG has 27 members as of December 31, 2019.
First cooperation talks have been started with two cooperative oncology groups – GETUG (French Genitourinary Group) with a clinical trial for patients with prostate cancer currently in preparation and CECOG (Central European Cooperative Oncology Group). An agreement about possible cooperation was signed by the NOI and organization supporting academic clinical trials SLOVACRIN which was founded at the Faculty of Medicine of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia.
SCOG was also introduced at a meeting with the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Industry (AIFP).
More information on SCOG activites can be found on the NOI web page in the section “Clinical trials” (www.noisk.sk)
