Visit to Phase I Clinic in Gustave Roussy Institute, Villejuif, Paris, January 11 – 13, 2023
On January 11 – 13, 2023, a meeting with Dr. Rastislav Bahleda and his coworkers at the Gustave Roussy Institute, Villejuif in Paris, France, took place with the objective of gaining knowledge and contacts before the establishment of Phase I Clinical Trials Clinic in the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Rastislav Bahleda is a clinical oncologist involved in the development of new medications who works at a phase I clinic and has a lot of experience in the area. The head of the 2nd Oncology Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine Comenius University and National Cancer Institute, Prof. Dr. Michal Mego, and the director of the National Oncology Institute, Dr. Mária Rečková, participated in the working meeting. National Oncology Institute participates in the implementation of the National Oncology Program and supports the development of clinical trials infrastructure in Slovakia. National Cancer Institute is a reference center for healthcare provision and clinical research in oncology in Slovakia. Establishment of a Phase I Clinical Trials Clinic is one of the activities from the Action Plan No. 4 of the National Oncology Program for 2021 – 2025 and another important activity within the broadening of possibilities for clinical trials regarding the accessibility of innovations to cancer patients in Slovakia.
