  • The screening program started in January 2019 by the first phase with a sample of 20 thousand people aged 50 to 75 selected by health insurance companies.
  • Health insurance companies send their insured persons a simple fecal occult blood test (bleeding that is hidden, invisible to naked eye) which they hand over to their general practitioner who assesses it.
  • Men and women above 50 are entitled to this test once in two years. If the result is positive, the patient should undergo a colonoscopy in order to determine the cause of bleeding.
